Lot 1573 Mauser ES340 .22 LR #68827
German made single-shot rimfire rifle chambered for .22 Long Rifle, manufactured prior to WWII in Oberndorf, Germany. Rifle features a blued finish, a 25-1/2" tapered barrel, tangent rear sight graduated to 200 meters, raised protected blade front sight, serrated curved trigger, and receiver mounted serrated safety catch (locks bolt). The walnut furniture consists of a smooth semi-pistol gripped shoulder stock, a smooth finger grooved forend, sling swivel at the forend, sling swivel on the bottom of the shoulder stock, and a smooth metal buttplate with the Mauser banner impressed into it. Rifle shows pre-war crowns, and 'B.U.G.' factory proof marks. The original blued finish retained is approximately 60% with edge wear, some general thinning, and a grey patina. Metal displays some minor surface rust that can be cleaned up, but no observed metal deformation. The markings are sharp, and the action is crisp. The bore is bright with strong rifling, but is dirty. This rifle is from an old time collector's estate.
